The Bonx Masquerade
As I continued to read I noticed the story becoming more like Freedom Writers. This novel has been holding my attention because of how interesting the story is. The students that read their poems not only are getting a chance to express their feeling, but are in a state of familiarity and feeling comfortable with one another. The students are very much like one another and are easily able to relate. When I heard the story of Chankara’s boyfriend beating her I felt awful for her. This had reminded me of my sister and her verbally abusive ex boyfriend. Tyrone’s negative outlook on the world because his father died had showed that all the students have their own unique problems, but their feelings and situations all relate. I found this book to be very interesting and great story for anyone to read.
The Bronx Masquerade
As I continued to read I noticed the themes becoming more obvious through the students journal entries. Most of the problems the teens were facing consisted of obesity, alcoholism, dyslexia, and abuse. I was very shocked while reading about these problems because I never had faced anything like it before in my life.
The Bonx Masquerade
When I first started reading this book I noticed it was about minors in California living troubled lives and had reminded me of Freedom Writers. When Tyrone Bittings read aloud his poem about the hard times in the Bronx I felt very sad for the kid. This had opened up “open mic Friday” That is when the students have a chance to express their hard times living in the Bronx
A Raisin in the Sun
By the time I finished the novel, I was not pleased. I thought the story drug out and in my eyes was pointless. I was hoping for the play to become a romance or have something exciting happen, but it did not. I wish Jim and Laura would of ended up together to make the story have more meaning. I had felt sorrow for the mother because she tried so hard for Laura to meet a man. All along I think the child who needed the most help was Tom. I would not recommend this story to anyone. I did not find it interesting at all.
A Raisin in the Sun
While reading scene six I was anxious to find out if Laura and Jim will end up with one another . I was very confused when Laura was sick from standing over the stove. I did not understand how the heat from a stove could make someone sick. All the preparation for the dinner was for Laura and now she wont even being an attendant at the dinner table. I thought she should feel shame. I feel as if the story was missing a puzzle piece. Hopefully the next scenes will bring the story together.
The Glass Menagerie
While reading the next scenes I started understanding the play. I started to think the story is about a family and their personal problems. A mother trying to connect to her children and getting them on the right road to success. As i started to read more I thought the store might be more about Laura and the family helping her find love with success. While I was reading these next scenes I was not interested and I thought the story drug out. Some conversations that went on through the story that took up several pages could of been done in one page. For example, Amanda and Tom talking about Jim became overly boring to me and did not hold my attention.
The Glass Menagerie
When I first began reading The Glass Menagerie the author did not grasp my attention. The description of the apartment did not put a picture in my mind because there was too much description. The beginning was hard to get into and I had to force myself to stay on track. The description made me wasn't to skip right to the dialogue in the play. When I finished the first scene I was very puzzled. What are gentlemen caller? The second scene held my attention more and I was starting to get into the play. While reading the third scene I would zone in and out. I cannot say i enjoy reading this play and hopefully the next scenes will save the story.
A Raisin in the Sun
I felt absolutely terrible for the family when the money was lost. The family waited so anxiously for the money and now it was gone. The story was a complete mystery to me. I was unable to predict the ending I thought the author did a great job carrying on my attention. I would definitely recommend this book to read. It was inspirational and a great story for anyone.
A Raisin in the Sun
I noticed the story slightly was about a check that the family is desperate to receive. One question that floated through my mind while reading was: Where is the check coming from and why are they receiving it? I personally believed most of the check should go to the sister going to medical school and into the new home. I also was on the fence about the liquor store idea.
A Raisin in the Sun
As i continued reading I grew great sympathy for the family. It must have been horrifying watching your son having to sleep on the sofa. This story made money have a much greater value. I though sharing a room with my sister for nine years was tough, but reading this story I actually feel lucky. Even though the family had different opinion on issues I could tell this was a family that loved and supported one another. "Mama" was the puzzle piece who held it all together.
A Raisin in the Sun
When i began to read A Raisin in the Sun and noticed the story was a play i got very excited. Plays are one of my favorite types of books. Once I began reading the story had grabbed my attention from the beginning. Based on the authors character's and their voice I noticed the book was about an African American family going through financial difficulties. The white people having greater advantages reminded me of the story To kill a Mockingbird. I knew I would enjoy this story.
Twilight
I finally had finished the novel. Twilight was one of my very favorite books. I was able to read the book in two days. At the end of the story I was very pleased to find out Edward and Bella were together. This novel made me want to read the rest of the Twilight series. I would recommend this book anyone.
Twilight
The author made the Cullen's lifestyle seem interesting and I nearly thought being a vampire could be "cool". As i continued to read I noticed the Cullen's lifestyle is very dangerous especially for Bella. One part in the novel that brought danger to Bella was when she was very injured and questioned myself if Bella would end up being a vampire. The way the action was described in the book is how my attention was captured throughout the story.
Twilight
As I continued to read I found out the truth about the Cullen's and how they are Vampires. I though this book could go two ways. Either the story would be completely unrealistic and lose my attention or could turn out being very interesting. As suspected the story continued getting even better. I did not understand how a normal average teenager had any desire to be with a vampire, but Bella did. Jacob however seemed to be very sketchy. I thought in my mind he had a crush on Bella, but then as his character continued to be mentioned in the story i became even more skeptical about him. Was Jacob also a vampire? Was he an enemy of Edward? I had the thought in the back of my mind that Jacob may end up with Bella, therefore, I continued to read.
Twilight
When Edward started making connections with Bella is when i realized this novel is even more of a romance than I thought. I thought he way the author made Edwards character have multiple feelings for Bella was very interesting. This was mysterious in ways and I did not want to put the novel down. For example, He acted as if he wanted nothing to do with her, but was always there to protect her. at this point Edwards character had confused me and I absolutely had to keep on reading.
Twilight
The moment I started reading Twilight I was completely into the book. I could hardly put the book down. The author used great description, but not to much to lead me into boredom. When I first met Bella I found her very interesting because she was so unique. She had a very different taste and seemed seemed plain. I also could tell that Bella was nothing like myself. had also recognized the Twilight the novel differentiated from Twilight the movie in various ways. While i kept on reading I met the Cullens, which made the book even more interesting than before. Even though i had already seen the movie I had no desire to stop reading the book.
